The only real problem is that as a platformer, The Simpsons Game is very basic. Also, unlike the game on other systems, The Simpsons Game for the DS plays out as a 2D sidesroller, rather than a 3D action game. Character swap points are provided for you, which unfortunately takes some of the customization out of the game - it's never that tough to decide which character to use to overcome a particular obstacle. You can take control of each member of the Simspons family, each with their own special abilities. While it's pretty fun, it also lacks much depth and is pretty standard fare. The gameplay itself is slightly lacking though. Tons of random references abound, and there are several moments when you'll actually laugh out loud thanks to a comment made (for example, a hilarious poke made at the game's publisher, Electronic Arts). But The Simpsons Game isn't just a videogame version of the show instead, a lot of the game's humor is centered around the numerous jokes made about the video game industry. Homer is still off-the-wall crazy, and the dialogue is fantastic (this is likely because the writers for the show actually scripted the game!).

Well, for one, the humor that we all know and love from the TV show is very much present in the game. But how well do those aspects of the show cross over to the Simpsons' newest DS adventure? It's hard to pinpoint exactly what makes The Simpsons so funny, but it's likely a combination of the random behavior exemplified by so many of the characters and the fantastic, subtle humor that pervades all aspects of the show. But, if you're a Simpsons fan, I'd pick this up.I'm often too busy to sit down and watch TV, but The Simpsons is one of those shows that I really make an effort to watch once a week. (6) Overall, The Simpson's Game isn't as fun as, say, Simpson's Hit and Run. Pet Homer is hilarious to play, but considering I had to beat the extremely hard Matt Groening's mansion THREE times, it's not that worth it. (7) COMPLETION BONUS: When you get the TONS of collectibles hidden in the game, you obtain many items to use in a sim called Pet Homer. The little joke at the end is admittedly worth it, as stupid as that sounds. Then it shows Ralph playing the game on his Xbox 360. When you beat God, he reveals that he's been addicted to a sim game. The battle would be easier if you didn't have random crap and enemies flying at you from every direction. The final boss is an ignorant God who is addicted to playing his DS. Overall, the level is pretty easy, that is, except for the final boss. In the level, there are four sections each using a different Simpson's powers. There, they find the angels of all of the enemies that they've fought throughout the game. (8) FINAL LEVEL (SPOILERS!): There is only one person left for the Simpsons to turn to, to save Springfield: God. And Marge can guide a mob to destroy things. (7) GAMEPLAY: Surprisingly, the game actually controls pretty well! Each of the members of the Simpsons family has their own unique powers. I'm not sure why though, but it looks nice for the DS. That aside, this game is goddamn hilarious! The script is amazing. It goes from platformer, to sidescroller, to pet sim. (9) PRESENTATION: One of the problems with this game is that it doesn't know what kind of game it wants to be. The story may not be original, but using this story, the game sure is damn funny. Using these powers, they have to save the town from an alien invasion.
